Creating QR codes are simple and best of all free. In this article we walk step my step how to create your own QR code.
What is a QR Code?
A 'Quick Response code' is a two-dimensional type of barcode scan-able using any smartphone. These codes are generated using QR code generators and point the user to a specific URL.
Which URL does a QR code point the user to?
This is the great part, there are no restrictions on which URL the QR code points to. For tracking purposes, we like to use a UTM smart URL that shares information about the QR code in Google Analytics.
Google has a great resource to help create this type of URL: Campaign URL Builder. Once created, this URL can be copied and pasted to create your new QR code.
- Website URL: qr.seatzapp.com
- Campaign Source: QR Code
- Campaign Medium: sEATz Stadium
- Campaign Name: 2021
This will generate the following URL:
qr.seatzapp,com?utm_source=qrcode&utm_medium=sEATzStadium&utm_campaign=2021
How to create a QR code?
There are many online free tools, but be careful to not use one that will expire or tries to charge monthly fees unless that is your goal.
We at sEATz currently use QR Code Monkey
- Enter the URL
- Select the 'Create QR code' button
- Your QR code is generated, and available for Download
Always check that the QR code operates as expected
